Care should be exercised when using adhesive products around a flush urostomy, especially when associated with megaureters and the absence of a urinary reservoir. Rarely, clinical reports have been documented of the presence of adhesive in the renal collecting system of these patients. Should a mass be detected in the urinary tract, evaluate the continued use of the adhesive product and initiate appropriate clinical management.
The peristomal skin must be clean, dry, and free from any solvent or greasy substances.
For pouches with a precut stoma opening: Select a pouch with the precut stoma opening at least 1/8 in. (3mm) larger than the largest stoma diameter. DO NOT enlarge the precut stoma opening. Remove protective plastic shield from Stomahesive disc.
