    • VETERINARY PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED

CAUTION: Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

DESCRIPTION: Cestex is an anthelminthic (dewormer). It paralyzes the tapeworm which causes it to lose its grip on your pet's intestinal wall. The tapeworm is then digested with no sign of the parasite seen in the stool after treatment.

USES:Cestex is a common anthelmintic tablet used for the treatment of tapeworms (cestodes) in cats and dogs. Cestex is a single dose prescription medication. The canine cestodes of Dipylidium caninum and Taenia pisiformis, and feline cestodes of Dipylidium caninum and Taenia taeniaeformis can be effectively treated with Cestex. The drug incapacitates the tapeworm and loosens its grip on the intestine of the pet. The worms are eventually destroyed during the digestion process. Cestex largely remains at the site of action within the gastrointestinal tract as it is administered orally.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not give Cestex to kittens and puppies less than 7 weeks of age. Because humans can contract tapeworm from pets it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.

WARNINGS:Tell your veterinarian if your pet is taking any other medications to treat worms. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant or lactating.
