Uses
For the prevention of dry, hard stools and for the relief of occasional constipation.
This product generally produces a bowel movement within 12 to 72 hours.
Summary
The sodium salt of docusate, a dioctyl salt and an emollient laxative with stool-softening activity. Docusate decreases surface tension and emulsification of fecal matter and allows water to penetrate and mix with stool. As a result, it softens the stool.
Directions
Adults and children 12 years and over:
Either crush or take whole 1 or 2 TABLETS daily.
Children under 12 years
Do not use. Consult a doctor before use.
Warnings
Do no use laxative products for longer than one week unless directed to do so by a doctor.
Ask a doctor before use if you have:
- abdominal pain
- nausea
- vomiting
- noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that persists over a period of 2 weeks
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are presently taking mineral oil.
Stop use and ask a doctor if:
- you have rectal bleeding
- you fail to have a bowel movement after use
These could be signs of a serious condition.
If pregnant or breast-feeding ask a doctor before use.
Do not use if blister seal is cut, torn, or broken.
Keep out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
